Time: 1st November 2013 at 6 pm   Description: Fight For The Right is a short film that explores the campaign fought in Birmingham to give women the vote. In 1909 Prime Minister Asquith visits the city to speak at a budget meeting, where no women are allowed to attend. This decision is met with dismay by Catherine Osler, leader of Birmingham Suffragist, and angry protests by Hilda Burkit, leader of the local branch of the more radical Suffragettes. Time: Thursday, 24 October 2013 from 14:30 to 17:30 (BST) Description: Conference to discuss the First  World War contributions of  black people from the Caribbean, Africa and from Britain who volunteered to serve in the Armed forces. These volunteers fought, and died, for the ‘mother country’ and for freedom, and thereby helped to preserve the values and the heritage after 99 years of been whitewashed out of the history books.
