Healthwatch Birmingham are rolling out  a half day training session around ‘Tuberculosis(TB) Awareness’ training to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of this disease. Please refer to the attached letter for further details about the session.

Please note that the training session will be half a day and the date of the training will be tentatively held in mid-June 2014 (date and time to be confirmed) at Heathwatch Birmingham office, Hagley Road.

As you work closely with vulnerable people or black, minority and ethnic (BME) groups who are mostly likely to be most at risk from TB, I am targeting specific organisations to see if you will be interested in taking part in a one-off free training session to educate and raise awareness of TB within your community. Costs will be covered by Healthwatch Birmingham.

You will be well placed to reach out to people who may have poor access to health services and to understand and help dispel the stigma and myths that make some communities reluctant to come forward for treatment. With your involvement, patients will be diagnosed earlier, resulting in less impact on their health and welfare and reduced levels of onward transmission.

If you are interested in participating in this free training, please can you respond to me by no later than Friday 9th May 2014. I can be contacted on 0121 636 0991 or directly via e-mail: syedaa@healthwatchbirmingham.co.uk

Places are limited to two representatives per organisation on a first come first serve basis and the session can accommodate 20 people maximum.
